Harrisburg, PA – Antisemitism has no place in Pennsylvania. But U.S. Congresswoman Summer Lee (PA-12) has shown her true colors by joining 8 of the most radical members of Congress voting against H.Con.Res.57 (Expressing the sense of Congress supporting the State of Israel).
By doing so, Rep. Lee has chosen to align herself with a fringe group that has repeatedly pushed antisemetic tropes. After the vote, Rep. Lee doubled down on her anti-Israel stance.
Nonetheless, Rep. Summer Lee has been a close ally with PA Senate Democrats. Allegheny County Senators Lindsey Williams, Jim Brewster, and Senate Minority Leader Jay Costa have stood in support of her in the past. In fact, Senators Williams and Nikil Saval (Philadelphia) were eager to endorse and campaign with Congresswoman Lee last year. In light of Rep. Summer Lee’s recent decision, will these Senators and the rest of the Senate Democrat caucus denounce the Congresswoman and her hateful, antisemitic actions?
“The entire Democrat caucus should be outraged by Rep. Summer Lee’s rhetoric and actions toward Israel and the Jewish community,” PA SRCC Executive Director Cody Harbaugh said. “Antisemitism should never be tolerated. We call on the Senators who have stood in support of Rep. Lee, as well as the Senate Democrat Caucus, to denounce her actions and antisemitism. They owe that to the Jewish community and the people of Pennsylvania.”
