PA SRCC Calls on Other Candidates to Condemn Violent Rhetoric
Harrisburg, PA – Recently, remarks surfaced that showed Democrat 16th Senate District candidate Mark Pinsley condoning violent speech of a Democrat elected official in Lehigh County. Pinsley stood by in strong support of Matt Mobilio, who posted on his Facebook that Trump supporters “… should be hung for treason.”
In light of this information, the PA SRCC called for Pinsley’s withdraw from the race and for the PA Senate Democrat Campaign Committee (PA SDCC) to condemn Pinsley’s support of violence and withdraw all support of his candidacy. Unfortunately, there has been no public comment made by either Pinsley or the PA SDCC. In fact, there has been additional social media postings where the PA SDCC has doubled down on the use of over the top rhetoric to attempt to stir-up an already polarized environment.
The PA SRCC released the following statement:
“This clear lack of condemnation proves that either PA Democrats approve of Mark Pinsley’s rhetoric or that they are too scared of the extreme elements of their party to call out violent rhetoric,” PA SRCC Executive Director Cody Harbaugh began. “A young man was just murdered in North Dakota in a politically motivated attack. With the temperature rising in our political discourse, now more than ever our leaders should denounce violent rhetoric.”
“While the PA SDCC remains silent, we hope other Democrats in the Lehigh Valley can speak out,” Harbaugh continued. “We call on Senator Lisa Boscola (candidate in SD-18) and Nick Miller (candidate in SD-14) to condemn Mark Pinsley’s support of violence towards political opponents. If either of them are victorious this fall, they will each be representing over 55,000 voters who supported President Trump in 2020. If they can’t take the simple step of rebuking Pinsley and opposing violent rhetoric, we can’t expect them to properly represent all the constituents in their districts.”
